My Benevolent Lord

My Benevolent Lord

He Lifted me from dust when I was discarded

I praise Him safeguarded

Closed off by Simon with a heavy discernment

Though he looked down on me with self entitlement

With a proclamation the Lord drew me near Him

I washed His feet with tears no longer feeling grim

My Benevolent Lord

He Lifted me from dust when I was discarded

I praise Him safeguarded

Though my job was to tax collect and oversee

I was ordered by Christ to come down from the tree

His overwhelming grace I struggled to carry

For He has blessed my home Jesus Christ set me free

My Benevolent Lord

He Lifted me from dust when I was discarded

I praise Him safeguarded

To be stoned by jurors when I was surrounded

They listed all my sins to see me convicted

Sin returned the verdict to each their own accord

Go home in peace He said my savior and my Lord

My Benevolent Lord

He Lifted me from dust when I was discarded

I praise Him safeguarded

The God that I worship I know Him He is true

For all He's done for me with abundant virtue

Within my heart I bear His love and His statute

I cannot leave His sight for He has made me new
